Paramardi, Deva

Paramardi, Deva
(?-1203)
The Chandella prince who got in-volved in a prolonged war with the Chahamanas of Ajmer-Delhi, which led to his discomfiture at the hands of Prithviraja III (1180-1192) in 1182-1183. Tradition credits the two heroes of Ma-hoba, Allha and Udala, for offering heroic resistance to the Cha-hamanas during this war. When Qutb al-Din 'Aibek advanced against Kalinjar in 1203, Paramardi fought against him with determi-nation but was forced to agree to submit, provoking a Chandella war-rior to kill him.
